Foremost fashion week unveils new headline partner, calls for Fashion Focus application

Lagos Fashion Design Week has unveiledHeineken as their new headline partner and calls for 'Fashion Focus' applications for her 2015 edition.

The popular fashion week, over the last five years, have promoted the Nigerian fashion industry and provided a platform to showcase talents while giving them constant international exposure.

Easily the biggest fashion week in Africa at the moment, the Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW) is officially set to begin a new partnership with Heinekan starting with the 2015 edition.

As the LFDW platform also prepares for its five year anniversary scheduled for October 28th to October 31st 2015, activities have kicked off with a call for entries for LFDW Fashion Focus.

Fashion Focus is a collaboration between Heineken, LFDW, and the British Council that is supported by Fashion School Istituto Marangoni and Grey Velvet Nigeria. It is a year long initiative with a vision to fine tune the existing Heineken/LFDW strategy to support the professional development of emerging fashion talent in Nigeria.

Fashion Focus will scout for, support, and develop emerging creative talent that can stimulate the growth of Nigeria’s fashion industry. This is in sync with British Council’s ongoing work to develop innovative, high-quality events and collaborations that link artists and cultural institutions in Nigeria with their counterparts in the UK. 

LFDW Fashion Focus offers fashion designers opportunities to be participants at targeted workshops and networking sessions between 2015 and 2016, as well as a chance to exhibit their collection at Heineken LFDW 2015.

LFDW 2014 Fashion Focus Finalist, Temitayo Ilesanmi Nathanwas invited to present his work at the British Council X British Fashion Council’s International Fashion Showcase 2015 atLondon Fashion Week earlier on in the year. He summarises his LFDW Fashion Focus experience as a “defining moment for my brand and me as its Creative Director. Being privileged to showcase alongside other talented designers at the International Fashion Showcase London was a major eye opener for me.   I now see the fashion industry in a totally different light – as a platform for creative expression as well as wealth creation”

Omoyemi Akerele, Executive Director and Founder Lagos Fashion and Design Week acknowledged the synergy between Heineken’s passion for design and the LFDW vision. She revealed, “At the heart of the Lagos Fashion and Design Week platform is the fundamental vision to position Lagos as a global destination for Africa’s finest fashion design talents. Through LFDW, they present their collections, grow their fashion businesses and contribute to the sustainability of Nigeria’s Creative Economy”.

Singer attacks Marques Houston over Karreuche's racy photo

It looks like Chris Brown is constantly trolling Karrueche Tranon social media and he is making sure that no other male celebrities get a piece of her.
The actress posted a racy photo of herself in a tiny bikini on IG on Thursday that she captioned, "Vitamin D #ittybittycommittee."

Marques Houston apparently couldn’t contain himself and left a thirsty comment on the pic.

"@Karrueche Dizayum look at all that booty, can’t even see your face cuz that booty in the way," Houston wrote in the comments along with a few laughing emojis.

Seems Brown took note of the comments on IG and also typed in the comments section "Go home Rodger." That was a famous line from Marques Houston days on the 1990s TV sitcom Sister Sister. Brown however deleted the post later.

Karrueche dumped Brown earlier this year after she found out that he fathered a love child name Royalty with video modelNia Guzman.

Sources connected to the former couple told us that they have not spoken to each other in months.

“There are zero communications between them for months now even though Chris and his friends tried to reach out to her,” sources told Urban Islandz. “It’s pretty clear that he needs to move on because she is moving on and is over the drama.”

With the global release date of Air Jordan’s collaboration with OVO quickly approaching, Drakecontinues to tease us with previews of the line.

 Drake shared multiple pictures last night on Instagram of some of the Jordan x OVO sneakers. The first pic showed only part of a white sneaker with a pink Jordan logo on the tongue and “6IX YEARS” printed on the inside of one of the flaps.

 He then revealed a black version of the shoe, this time showing off the whoooole thing. While the Jordan logo is on the tongue, the OVO owl gets its own spot on the back.

Mavin boss share's his secret formula for making music

Don Jazzy has revealed his personal secret to making hit songs.

The Mavin Records CEO has developed and maintained a career in music, reinventing his priorities for over a decade, with production, talent management, singing and music entrepreneurship among his skills.

But the bedrock of his success in music has been his ability to consistently produce smash hit songs for numerous artistes.

In an interview with City People, Don Jazzy divulged some unique secrets on how he gets his music right.

Does he have the Midas touch or does he just understand the Nigerian music market? Here’s what the Don said about making all his hits.

“I don’t know about the Midas touch, but I think what it is, is that, I understand the market first.” Don Jazzy said.

“I also understand people to a large extent, the common problem with people in the industry, is not really understanding the individuals they deal with, either the artiste of their staffs. I run a very beautiful organization where everyone is friends. We are family, I don’t come and start using veto power, because I am the boss, the greatest idea might come from the little guy there. So I listen to everybody and it works.”

Don Jazzy further went deeper about his basic underlying strategy in making music. Turns out he experiments, but sticks within the acceptable boundaries of Nigerian music.

“As for music I try to experiment sometimes, but I don’t go out of the box to say I want to over experiment in a way that it is not what people want.” Jazzy said.

“If it is akara that you want to sell, it’s the akara that you will sell. You don’t have to start putting jam inside akara. Then it’s not akara anymore, it is something else, the least you can do is to put small pepper to taste, you cannot now go over outside the box and say you want to put your name on top of the akara and stuffs like that.

“Over the years there has been the kind of music Nigerians like. This is the kind of music my mother and my father dances to and their friends too, then we just stick to the formula and it works for us.” He concluded.

SHOCKING NEWS: Kylie Jenner is 2 months pregnant

Fans have completely lost their minds after rumors again spread that Kylie Jenner is two months pregnant with Tyga's baby, right after her 18th birthday... making it the thrid time this story is springing up on social media. But is it true this time?

According to reports in Life & Style magazine, the reality star could become a mother soon.

Despite the fact that Kylie and Tyga weren’t looking to have children anytime soon, the magazine alleges that Kylie is actually already pregnant and is two months gone!

''[Kylie] is legal now and doesn’t have to explain anything to anyone. Kylie couldn’t be more excited about having a baby with Tyga,'' the insider told the mag.

The insider also claims Tyga is ready and happy to become a father for the second time after King Cairo with ex girlfriend, Blac Chyna.

"[Tyga] though she was just kidding around that she was pregnant,” the source said. “That’s when she placed a positive pregnancy test in his hands. Tyga immediately hugged and kissed her when he saw the proof.”

What makes this situation complicated, if true, is that Kylie being two months pregnant means the baby was reportedly conceived while she was still 17 years-old.
